ubuntu 12.04 - Mounted new drive and "lost" data -

i have mounted new drive folder within home directory (/home/mediapc/downloads/) running low on storage.

i used next command:

mount /dev/sdb2 /home/mediapc/downloads/

once did lost info in folder has not cleared hard drive.

is there simple way either:

get info back actually clear hard drive ubuntu believes still have 1% of storage left though has gone

i have tried using find command files know in folder , using du command have had no luck.

i have found how this. unmounted drive , old folder reappeared. moved location (downloads old) , remounted.
