dalvik - Zygote in ART (Android Runtime) -
with dalvik vm, zygote's role was(is) deed launch pad new applications , repository of live core libraries applications can refer during life cycles. launch of art, did alter respect zygote? zygote still deed launching pad new applications in android?

similar preloaded classes in zygote, fine art attempts pre-initialize set of classes @ compile time. creates ‘boot.art’ file comprises image of compacted heap of pre-initialized classes , related objects. file mapped memory upon zygote startup. while consumes additional storage (typically 10mb), speeds zygote startup , creates opportunities scheme swap out preloaded classes under memory pressure. contributes improved low-ram performance art, since in dalvik much of class info have been stored in dirty pages in linear alloc space.
