i have file:

templates/admin/{app_name}/{model_name}/add/change_form.html

this extends

admin/change_form.html

i added button template , working fine when adding new instance of model.

i want add together button template appears when changing existing instance of model. created file:

templates/admin/{app_name}/{model_name}/change/change_form.html

thinking add together , alter utilize same template. changes made template not seem take place.

what template django utilize when changing fields of existing instance of model?

you can specify change_form_template in model admin.

by default it's (in order):

admin/app/model/change_form.html admin/app/change_form.html admin/change_form.html

the model properties passed in template url.
