Magento: how to display the correct images for configurable products in search results -

i'm building configurable products on magento site (a simple way of showing each of our textiles swatches of different colors of same item under main product image) , have associated simple products each individual color. don't seem able obtain desired behavior site , i'm writing inquire if have suggestion might solve problem. @ moment experience behavior: when filtering products through color-level attributes both simple , configurable products in result set. 1 time if click on simple product find myself simple product detail page, doesn't show box other color swatches.. while every product detail page show other colors of same item.

the intended usage basic can't figure out if magento can accomplish on own or if require code; need is:

1) product detail pages show color swatches 2) result list when filtering color attribute (for illustration "whites") should show right color images of individual colors, without duplicates (and not main image product, in wrong color)

do have suggestion of maybe know of plugin accomplish this? lot, sergio

sergio, there 2 features in particular might help solve problem.

first:

click expand shopping cart section. then, set configurable product image 1 of following: l product thumbnail l parent product thumbnail

second:

to prevent associated products beingness listed individually in catalog, set visibility “not visible individually.” or in case, may decide other way around.

please aware not able feature work myself.
